Oral Health Equity Hero Award Announcement

The Oral Health Workgroup would like to announce Becca Matusovich as the 2017 Oral Health Equity Hero Award recipient. The Oral Health Equity Hero award recognizes the exemplary achievement of individuals and/or organizations that support community efforts to promote oral health equity and eliminate oral health disparities.

Heartland Regional Health Council (RHEC VII) Signs MOU with the HRSA Region VII Midwestern Public Health Training Center

A memorandum of understanding (MOU) between RHEC VII and the HRSA Region VII Midwestern Public Health Training Center (Region VII MPHTC) at the University of Iowa College of Public Health was recently signed. The goal of the collaboration is to address health disparities across Region 7 (Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska).

The Pacific and Southwest Regional Health Equity Council (PSWRHEC) Signs Operating Agreement

The PSWRHEC signed entered into an agreement with Public Health Foundation Enterprises, Inc. (PHFE), a 501(c)(3) California nonprofit corporation. PHFE will provide management and oversight for the financial and administrative aspects of programs implemented by PSWRHEC.

The webinar provides information on identifying SDOH; innovative practices that address health inequities; and ways to identify and access resources that can be used to champion health equity efforts.

The Southeastern Health Equity Council (SHEC) Cultural Competency Series

SHEC Webinar on the Farmers’ Market SNAP Support Grants in the Southeast Region

This webinar focused on the Farmers’ Market SNAP Support Grants received in the Southeastern Region. The objective of the webinar was to inspire future southeastern applicants, create a learning network among grant recipients and others in the field, and serve as a platform for the sharing of tools and evaluation findings.

Mountain States RHEC (RHEC VIII) Native American Cultural Competency Series

  • Overview of Working with Tribal Governments: This webinar covers the history of tribes and treaties, utilization of CLAS Standards, cultural sensitivity when working with tribal communities  and the impact of cultural needs assessments.
  • Cultural Sensitivity when Collecting Sensitive Data: This webinar discusses the benefits of providing culturally and linguistically appropriate services and identifies the protocols of the Great Plains tribes, and it discusses effective strategies when working with the Native American population.

The American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) NPA Caucus Behavioral Health Webinars

  • National Tribal Behavioral Health Agenda (TBHA): The TBHA marks the first tribally informed blueprint for improving behavioral health outcomes in American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) communities. Watch as NIHB staff provides an in-depth analysis of the TBHA.

  • The Hope Squad Program: This webinar focuses on the work of the Hope Squad Program, a school-based peer advocate program that works to prevent suicide and decrease the incidence of untreated mental illness and  how the program is implemented.

Heartland Regional Health Equity Council (RHEC VII) Released a Health Equity Resource Guide

As part of its efforts to educate and to enhance the understanding of health equity and health disparities, RHEC VII’s Health Equity Committee developed a Health Equity Resource Guide that contains articles, publications and training materials that include webinars as well as other resources aimed at facilitating change.

NPA Digital Stories
