Highlights of this edition

  • NOAA Ship Thomas Jefferson continued hydrographic survey operations on OPR-K371-TJ-23, acquiring SSS and MBES data, closing H13711, and collecting data on H13712, and H13713. 
  • Terrasond collected 1,187 LNM of MBES data in Bristol Bay, AK. Acquisition took place
    in H13716, H13717, H13718, H13723, H13724, H13725, and F00876.

OPR-F324-FH-23 Approaches to Wilmington, NC

Recap
  • NOAA Ship Ferdinand R. Hassler made no further progress on H13748 during the week of 02JUL2023 returning to Norfolk, VA port for repairs.

Looking Forward

  • During the week of 09JUL2023, the ship will be taking on fuel, awaiting repairs, and ABS certification.

THOMAS JEFFERSON 

OPR-K371-TJ-23 Approaches to Galveston, TX

Recap
  • NOAA Ship Thomas Jefferson continued hydrographic survey operations on OPR-K371-TJ-23, acquiring SSS and MBES data, closing H13711, and collecting data on H13712, and H13713. The ship ended survey operations in this geographic region and commenced transit to Savannah and Norfolk.

  • NOAA Ship Thomas Jefferson will continue to transit to Savannah to finish survey operations on OPR-K371-TJ-23 before returning to Norfolk for port.

OPR-E351-KR-22 Southwest Chesapeake Rivers

Recap

  • R/V 505 and R/V Pulse were offline.

Looking Forward

  • R/V 505 and R/V Pulse will conduct investigations and mainscheme MBES and SSS data acquisition, NALL investigations and fill in H13768 and H13769. Office staff plans to continue processing and reporting the remaining sheets.
  • R/V Endeavor, R/V Voxel, R/V Spectrum, and R/V Taku have been demobilized.

OPR-R390-KR-23 Approaches to Nome, AK

Recap

  • R/V Thunder continued continued main scheme data acquisition and crossline acquisition in H13696 and H13697. R/V Thunder had a partial day of survey on 5JUL2023 and 7JUL2023 due to a port call.
  • ASV Quimby continued main scheme data acquisition in H13695 and was down for survey on 4JUL2023 and 5JUL2023 for the crew to mobilize ASV Inez.
  • ASV Inez arrived on site and was mobilized with survey equipment on 4JUL2023 and 5JUL2023.
  • JOA monitored the tide gauges remotely.
  • Office staff continued processing and reporting.

Looking Forward

  • R/V Thunder will begin main scheme data acquisition in H13699 and plans to have a port call in Nome on 16JUL2023 for a crew change and reprovisions.
  • R/V Norseman II will begin mobilization on 15JUL2023.
  • ASV Quimby will continue mainscheme data acquisition in H13695 and H13696 and will be mobilized on R/V Norseman II along with ASV Inez sometime after 15JUL2023.
  • Office staff will continue processing and reporting. 
  • JOA staff will monitor the tide stations remotely.
Geodynamics

 

OPR-F330-KR-22 Albemarle Sound, NC

Recap

  • R/V Benthos collected SSS/MBES for infills and investigations in H13755 and SBES for infills in H13761, MBES for crosslines in H13755
    and for crosslines and investigations in H13758. RV Benthos collected bottom samples in H13761 and H13755.
  • R/V Chinook was down for operational maintenance on 03JUL2023 and 04JUL2023. R/V Chinook collected SSS/MBES for infills and investigations and SBES for infills in H13761 and H13762. RV Chinook also collected crosslines in H13758 and H13755, and bottom samples in H13758, H13761, and H13762.
  • R/V 4‐Points was down for operational maintenance on 02JUL2023 through 04JUL2023. RV 4‐Points collected SSS/SBES and SBES for infill and investigations in H13761, and SBES for infill and investigations in H13763.
  • Data processing of SSS, MBES, and SBES has continued through the reporting period. The office continues to ingest survey data and focus on QC review, documentation and fill/recovery plans.

Looking Forward

  • R/V Benthos will be offsite for operational maintenance to the vessel.
  • R/V 4-Points will collect infills and investigations in H13761 and H13760.
  • RV Chinook will collect infill and investigations in H13762 and H13761.
  • The office will continue ingestion and processing of SSS, MBES, and SBES data. This week's sheet‐wide reviews will focus on SSS/MBES for H13760 and SSS/SBES and SSS/SBES reviews in H13763 and H13764 while continuing to refine all fill and
    investigation plans.

Recap

  • Operations collected 1,187 LNM of MBES data in Bristol Bay, AK. Acquisition took place in H13716, H13717, H13718, H13723, H13724, H13725, and F00876.

  • Work where weather and fishing activity permits. Rotation for crew, fuel, and supplies is planned for 13JUL2023 in Dillingham.
