OPR-340-KR-23 Bristol Bay, Alaska |
Recap
- Surveyed in H13718 at start of week
- Worked in H13716 and H13717 early in the week due to easterly weather. Made progress surveying around some of the charted shoals in western H13716.
- Worked eastward with improving weather to H13714, then worked H13714 the later half of the week.
- Arrival in H13714 appeared to be early enough to avoid the bulk of the fishing season activity predicted to start in mid-June in this area, and operations made good progress in this sheet.
- Completed recon in upper Kvichak Bay, including the vicinity of Naknek. Enough recon data was acquired to identify the navigationally significant areas and provide recommendations for additional survey there.
Looking Forward
- Rotation for resupply and refueling is scheduled in Dillingham for 15JUN2023. Plan to work in H13714 until the rotation. Will return to surveying on 16JUN2023.
- Will evaluate conditions in the survey area after the rotation for weather and fishing activity conditions. Will prioritize H13714, H13715, and H13720. If these are not effectively workable, survey is likely to concentrate in the sheets south and west of the Nushagak Peninsula.
