OPR-F324-FH-23 Approaches to Wilmington, NC

Recap
  • NOAA Ship Ferdinand R. Hassler commenced survey operations on OPR-F324-FH-23 Approaches to Wilmington, NC sheet H13748.
  • Completed the board of the sheet and started the mainscheme. 
  • Departed the project area early due to weather and CASREP with the ships General Alarm/PA system.

Looking Forward

  • The ship will be in port in Norfolk, VA waiting repairs to be completed on the CASREP with the ship's General Alarm/PA system and staffing issues to be resolved.

THOMAS JEFFERSON 

OPR-K371-TJ-23 Approaches to Galveston, TX

Recap
  • NOAA Ship Thomas Jefferson conducted hydrographic survey operations on OPR-K371-TJ-23, acquiring on sheets H13703, H13705, H13707, H13708, and H13709. Ship arrived to Galveston on 19MAY2023 for its regularly scheduled in port.

Looking Forward

  • Thomas Jefferson will get underway from Galveston, TX on 22MAY2023 and commence survey operations on H13703, H13704, and H13705.

Fairweather 

Recap:

  • NOAA Ship Fairweather's crew rested in Juneau before transiting to Kodiak for stores. The ship will then transit to Togiak Bay to begin OPR-R331-FA-23.

Recap
  • NOAA Ship Rainier was alongside Pearl Harbor, HI for Fleet Inspection and alongside repairs.

OPR-E351-KR-22 Southwest Chesapeake Rivers

Recap

  • R/V 505 conducted Investigation and fill in H13765 and H13767, was down on 18MAY2023, and performed a patch test on 19MAY2023.
  • R/V Spectrum conducted mainscheme MBES and SSS data acquisition and fill in H13770 and H13771.
  • R/V Pulse conducted mainscheme MBES and SSS data acquisition and NALL investigations in H13770, performed patch tests on 15MAY2023, 16MAY2023 and 19MAY2023, was down for maintenance on 18MAY2023, moved from Urbanna to Deep Creek on 19MAY2023, and conducted mainscheme MBES and SSS data acquisition in H13769 .

Looking Forward

  • R/V 505 will conduct fill and investigation in H13765, H13766, H13767 and later in the week move to the York review to begin mainscheme MBES and SSS data acquisition in the York River.
  • R/V Pulse will conduct mainscheme MBES and SSS data acquisition and fill in H13768 and H13769.
  • R/V Spectrum will conduct mainscheme MBES and SSS data acquisition and fill in
    H13770 and H13771.
  • R/V Endeavor, R/V Voxel, and R/V Taku have been demobilized.
Geodynamics

 

OPR-F330-KR-22 Albemarle Sound, NC

Recap

  • R/V Benthos was down for weather on 18MAY2023 and 19MAY2023 and a planned project stand down on 20MAY2023. RV Benthos collected SSS/SBES and SBES in H13763.
  • R/V Chinook was down for weather partially on 16MAY2023 and 17MAY2023 and full days on 18MAY2023 and 19MAY2023. There was a planned project stand down on 20MAY2023. R/V Chinook collected SSS/SBES and SBES in H13764, SSS/MBES in H13760, and SSS/SBES in H13763.
  • R/V 4‐Points was down for weather partially on 16MAY2023 and full days on 18MAY2023 and 19MAY2023. There was a planned project stand down on 20MAY2023. RV 4‐Points collected SBES in H13763 and H13764. The vessel was trailered offsite to GDX offices for upcoming vessel
  • Data processing of SSS, MBES, and SBES has continued through the reporting period. The office continues to ingest survey data and focus on QC review, documentation and fill/recovery plans.

Looking Forward

  • R/V Benthos will collect SSS/SBES in H13763 and H13764.
  • R/V Chinook will collect SSS/SBES in H13763 and H13764.
  • R/V 4-Points will be in Morehead City for vessel repairs. Following repairs, the vessel will be mobilized with a SSS and then return to the project to collect SSS/SBES in H13763 and H13764.
  • The office will continue ingestion and processing of SSS, MBES, and SBES data. This week's sheet‐wide reviews will focus on SSS/MBES for H13755, H13758, and H13760 and continuing to refine fill and investigation plans. SSS/SBES reviews will continue
    to develop fill and recovery plans..
