  • NOAA Ship Ferdinand R. Hassler is alongside USCG Tradd St. in Charleston, SC for repairs.

  • The ship is navigating through a few outstanding items associated with their winter repair package and looking forward to resuming operations in the Spring.

OPR-K371-TJ-23 Approaches to Galveston, TX

Recap
  • NOAA Ship Thomas Jefferson got underway on 24APR2023 and surveyed on H13705. The ship anchored on 25APR2023 due to main engine issues and pulled back into port on 27APR2023 for repairs. 
  • Launch 2903 surveyed H13703 and H1370X while the ship was inport.

Looking Forward

  • Thomas Jefferson will get underway from Galveston, TX on 01MAY2023 and continue survey operations on H13705, H13707, and H13709.
  • Launch 2903 will work on H13703 and H13708.

OPR-O392-FA-23 Approaches to Revillagigedo, AK

  • NOAA Ship Fairweather was alongside in Juneau, AK for a scheduled inport until 27APR2023 when the ship got underway to continue acquisition on OPR-O392-FA-23 Approaches to Revillagigedo, AK.

OPR-T382-RA-23 American Samoa/PRIA (RICHARD)

Recap
  • NOAA Ship Rainier worked on H13734, H13735, and H1376 while conducting dive operations in Pango Pango Harbor, Ofu, and Tutuila Islands, AS.

Looking Forward

  • Rainier will conduct dive and hydrographic survey operations around Swains (H13733), Kanton (No Number assigned yet), Baker (H13732), and Howland (H13731) before transiting to Pearl Harbor for Fleet Inspection.

OPR-E351-KR-22 Southwest Chesapeake Rivers

Recap

  • R/V 505 conducted mainscheme MBES and SSS data acquisition in H13767, was down for weather on 28APR2023, and had a short day for maintenance on 29APR2023.
  • R/V Pulse conducted mainscheme MBES and SSS data acquisition in H13771, a NALL investigation in H13770, a patch test on 25APR2023, and was down for weather on 28APR2023.
  • R/V Spectrum conducted mainscheme MBES and SSS data acquisition in H13769, and was down for weather on 28APR2023.
  • R/V Taku conducted mainscheme MBES and SSS data acquisition in H13770 and H13771, cross lines in H13771, and was down for weather on 28APR2023.
  • R/V Endeavor and R/V Voxel were demobilized on 21APR2023 and 22APR2023 respectively.

Looking Forward

  • R/V 505 to conduct fill and investigation in H13765, H13766, and H13767.
  • R/V Pulse and R/V Taku to conduct mainscheme MBES and SSS data acquisition in H13770 and H13771.
  • R/V Spectrum to conduct mainscheme MBES and SSS data acquisition in H13768 and H13769.
Geodynamics

 

OPR-F330-KR-22 Albemarle Sound, NC

Recap

  • R/V Substantial collected SSS/MBES in H13764 and some SSS/MBES infill in H13758. Port call occurred on 27APR2023 and some partial downtime for weather on 23APR2023 and 24APR2023. The vessel suspended night shift for most of the week for safety (nearshore survey areas). The R/V Substantial has completed the work planned for the vessel on the project and concluded the week with a project close-out
    verification prior to transiting back to Beaufort, NC. The vessel will remain fully ready until further notice.
  • R/V Benthos was down for weather on 24APR2023 and 28APR2023. R/V Benthos collected SSS/SBES in H13761 and H13763 and SBES only in H13763.
  • R/V Chinook was down for weather on 24APR2023 and some partial downtime on 28APR2023. R/V Chinook collected SSS/SBES, SBES, and fill/recoveries in H13762. R/V Chinook also collected SSS/MBES fill and recoveries in H13755.
  • R/V 4‐Points was down on 23APR2023 and 24APR2023 for mechanical repairs and resumed SBES survey in H13763 on 25APR2023. 4-Points was down for weather on 27APR2023 (partial) and 28APR2023.
  • Data processing of SSS, MBES, and SBES has continued through the reporting period. The office continues to ingest survey data and focus on QC review, documentation and fill/recovery plans.

Looking Forward

  • R/V Benthos will conduct SSS/SBES and SBES in H13763. Possible fill and investigations in H13755, H13758, and H13761.
  • R/V Chinook will conduct SSS/SBES and SBES in H13764. Possible fill and investigations in H13755, H13758, and H13762.
  • R/V 4-Points will collect SBES in H13763 and H13764.
  • The office will continue ingestion and processing of SSS, MBES, and SBES data. This week's sheet-wide reviews will focus on SSS/MBES for H13755, H13758, and H13760 and continuing to refine fill and investigation plans. SBES reviews will continue to develop fill and recovery plans. The office will coordinate a possible in-person site/HQ visit by OCS.

OPR-E347-KR-22 Central Chesapeake Bay, MD

Recap

  • R/V Oyster Bay II remained in port due to weather on 23APR2023, then acquisition continued for closing final holiday/gap fills.
  • Weather delay was incurred for all of 29APR2023.

Looking Forward

  • Survey operations on the R/V Oyster Bay II will continue later this week to finalize holiday/gap fills early in the week weather permitting.
  • The R/V Oyster Bay II will conclude survey acquisition and be demobilized.
  • Data Processing is ongoing in the Newport, RI Data Center, and Field Office.
