Highlights of this edition

  • NOAA Ship Thomas Jefferson deployed Launch 2903 to survey additional work given on H1370X in the Galveston Ship Channel and Galveston Intracoastal Waterway.
  • eTrac continued survey acquisition on OPR-E351-KR-22 Southwest Chesapeake Rivers.

OPR-K371-TJ-23 Approaches to Galveston, TX

  • NOAA Ship Thomas Jefferson was delayed sailing and remained inport due to waiting for an augmenter to be assigned.

Looking Forward

  • Thomas Jefferson is scheduled to get underway from Galveston, TX on 24APR2023 and begin conducting survey operations on H13703.

OPR-T382-RA-23 American Samoa/PRIA (RICHARD)

Recap
  • NOAA Ship Rainier conducted dive and hydrographic survey operations around Tutuila, on H13735 before pulling into Pago Pago for a scheduled inport.

OPR-E351-KR-22 Southwest Chesapeake Rivers

Recap

  • R/V 505 conducted mainscheme MBES and SSS data acquisition in H13767, investigation and fill in H13765, H13766, and H13767 with a partial day on 22APR20232 due to thunderstorms. Cross lines in H1365, and a
    patch test on 20APR2023
  • R/V Endeavor conducted mainscheme MBES and SSS data acquisition in H13768 and
    H13769, patch test on 19APR2023, and bottom samples in H13768 20APR2023 before being demobilized on 21APR2023.
  • R/V Pulse conducted mainscheme MBES and SSS data acquisition in H13771 with a partial day on 22APR2023 due to thunderstorms, and was on standby 16APR2023.
  • R/V Spectrum conducted mainscheme MBES and SSS and data acquisition in sheet H13769 with a partial day on 22APR2023 due to thunderstorms.
  • R/V Taku conducted mainscheme MBES and SSS data acquisition in H13771 with a partial day on 22APR2023 due to thunderstorms.
  • R/V Voxel conducted mainscheme MBES and SSS data acquisition in H13769, on standby in the James River on 20APR2023, and was demobilized on 22APR2023.

Looking Forward

  • R/V 505 to conduct fill and investigation along with mainscheme MBES and SSS data acquisition in H13766 and H13767, and will transit to the James River this week.
  • R/V Pulse and R/V Taku to conduct mainscheme MBES and SSS data
    acquisition in H13771.
  • R/V Endeavor and R/V Voxel have been demobilized.
Geodynamics

 

OPR-F330-KR-22 Albemarle Sound, NC

Recap

  • R/V Substantial collecting SSS/MBES in H13764 and H13763. Port call occurred on 20APR2023 and some partial downtime for weather on 17APR2023, 18APR2023, and 19APR2023. The vessel often suspended night shift throughout the week for safety (nearshore survey areas).
  • R/V Benthos was down for weather on 17APR2023 and 22APR2023. Partial downtime for weather on 18APR2023. R/V Benthos collected SSS/MBES in H13755 and SBES and SSS/SBES in H13761.
  • R/V Chinook was down for weather on 17APR2023 and the majority of 22APR2023. R/V Chinook collected SSS/MBES in H13755 including some SSS/MBES fill/recoveries and also collected SBES and SSS/SBES in H13761 and H13762.
  • R/V 4‐Points collected project wide recon 16APR2023 and 17APR2023 and then was down for the remainder of the week for vessel repairs. The vessel was brought back to the GDX office in Morehead City for the repairs.
  • USV X‐15 was brought back to the GDX office. Demobilized and closed out. USV-15 is now off project.
  • USV X‐19 was demobilized and closed out at the GDX office. USV-19 is now off project.
  • Data processing of SSS, MBES, and SBES has continued through the reporting period. The office continues to ingest survey data and focus on QC review, documentation and fill/recovery plans.

Looking Forward

  • R/V Substantial will continue H13763 and H13764 SSS/MBES. Possible fill/investigations in H13755, H13758, H13760.
  • R/V Benthos will conduct SSS/SBES and SBES in H13761 and H13763. Possible fill and investigations in H13755 and H13758.
  • R/V Chinook will conduct SSS/SBES and SBES in H13762 and H13764. Possible fill and investigations in H13755 and H13758.
  • R/V 4-Points will head back to site on 24APR2023 post-repairs and collect SBES in H13763 and H13764.
  • The office will continue ingestion and processing of SSS, MBES, and SBES data. This week's sheet-wide reviews will focus on SSS/MBES for H13755, H13758, and H13760 and continuing to refine fill and investigation plans. SBES/SSS reviews of H13761 and
    H13762 for fill and recoveries.

OPR-E347-KR-22 Central Chesapeake Bay, MD

Recap

  • R/V Oyster Bay II remained in port during the data processing shutdown that began 12APR2023 (JD102) in order to make the final holiday/gap fill plans ready.
  • On Wednesday 12APR2023, the vessel operations were shut down to finalize gap coverage analysis of the data.

Looking Forward

  • Survey operations on the R/V Oyster Bay II will continue later this week when final holiday/gap fill plans are ready.
  • Data Processing ongoing in the Newport, RI Data Center and Field Office.
