  • The ship is navigating through a few outstanding items associated with their winter repair package and looking forward to resuming operations in the Spring.

OPR-K371-TJ-23 Approaches to Galveston, TX

Recap
  • NOAA Ship Thomas Jefferson conducted survey operations on OPR-K371-TJ-23, acquiring on sheets H13707 and H13705. 
  • The ship arrived at Pier 21, Galveston, TX on Wednesday, 12APR2023 to participate in the Galveston Tall Ships Festival.

Looking Forward

  • Thomas Jefferson is scheduled to get underway from Galveston, TX on Monday, 17APR2023 and will begin conducting survey operations on OPR-K371-TJ-23, acquiring on sheet H13703.

Fairweather

OPR-O392-FA-23 Approaches to Revillagigedo, AK

Recap:

  • NOAA Ship Fairweather continued acquisition on OPR-O392-FA-23 Approaches to Revillagigedo. Survey H13777 began on 11APR2023 and acquisition continued until 14APR2023 when weather conditions prevented further survey operations. Acquisition began on Survey H13776 on 14APR2023.
  • Two launches are currently experiencing mechanical and survey system issues that prevent survey acquisition.

  • NOAA Ship Fairweather will continue acquisition on OPR-O392-FA-23 Approaches to Revillagigedo, AK.

OPR-T382-RA-23 American Samoa/PRIA (RICHARD)

Recap
  • NOAA Ship Rainier conducted survey operations on OPR-T382-RA-23, acquiring on sheets H13734, H13735, H13736, and H13737 while conducting dive operations in Tau, Ofu, and Tutuila Islands, AS.

  • Rainier will conduct dive and hydrographic survey operations around Tutuila, on H13735 before pulling into Pago Pago for a scheduled inport.

OPR-E351-KR-22 Southwest Chesapeake Rivers

Recap

  • R/V 505 conducted mainscheme MBES and SSS data acquisition in H13766 and H13767, and Fill and Investigation in H13766.
  • R/V Endeavor conducted mainscheme MBES and SSS data acquisition in H13771 before transiting to Newport News on 10APR2023. Conducted mainscheme MBES and SSS data acquisition in H13769.
  • R/V Pulse conducted mainscheme MBES and SSS data acquisition and a NALL investigation in H13771, and conducted Patch tests on 09APR2023, 10APR2023, and 11APR2023.
  • R/V Spectrum conducted mainscheme MBES and SSS data acquisition in H13766 before transiting to Newport News on 10APR2023. Conducted NALL investigation, mainscheme MBES and SSS data acquisition, and cross-line acquisition in H13769..
  • R/V Taku conducted vessel maintenace from 09APR2023 to 13APR2023 and transited to the Rappahannock on 14APR2023.
  • R/V Voxel conducted mainscheme MBES and SSS data acquisition in H13771 before transiting to Newport News on 10APR2023. Conducted mainscheme MBES and
    SSS data acquisition in H13769.

  • R/V 505 to conduct fill and investigation along with mainscheme MBES and SSS data acquisition in H13765, H13766, and H13767.
  • R/V Endeavor, R/V Spectrum, and R/V Voxel will conduct mainscheme MBES and SSS data acquisition in H13769.
  • R/V Pulse and R/V Taku to conduct mainscheme MBES and SSS data acquisition in H13771.

OPR-F330-KR-22 Albemarle Sound, NC

Recap

  • R/V Substantial was down for weather 09APR2023 and 10APR2023. Substantial then worked in H13755 and H13758 collecting SSS/MBES and then collected MBES crosslines in H13755, H13758, and H13760. Port call occurred on 14APR2023. Then proceeded to collect project wide recon.
  • R/V Benthos was down for weather on 09APR2023 and 10APR2023, and then proceeded to collect SSS/MBES in H13758 and H13755.
  • R/V Chinook was down for weather on 09APR2023 and 10APR2023, and then proceeded to collect SSS/MBES in H13755.
  • R/V 4‐Points was down for weather on 09APR2023 and 10APR2023, and then proceeded to collect project wide recon.
  • USV X‐15 was down for weather on 09APR2023 and 10APR2023, and then proceeded to collect SBES in H13762 and performed closeout verification lines. Then readied for Demob offsite.
  • USV X‐19 was down for weather on 09APR2023 and 10APR2023, and then proceeded to collect SBES in H13762 and performed closeout verification lines. USV-19 was transported from the survey area back to GDX for closeout.
  • Data processing of SSS, MBES, and SBES has continued through the reporting period. The office continues to ingest survey data and focus on QC review, documentation and fill/recovery plans. 2 DtoNs were submitted.

Looking Forward

  • R/V Substantial will continue project wide recon and possibly some fill and recoveries.
  • R/V Benthos will continue SSS/MBES survey in H13755 and H13758 and SSS/SBES in H13761.
  • R/V Chinook will continue SSS/MBES survey in H13755 and H13758 and SSS/SBES in H13762.
  • R/V 4-Points will have some planned down time and then proceed with some project wide recon and/or fill and recoveries.
  • USV-15 and USV-19 will demob and closeout.
  • The office will continue ingestion and processing of SSS, MBES, and SBES data. This week sheet‐wide reviews focused on SSS/MBES for H13755, H13758, and H13760 will occur to refine fill and investigation plans. SBES reviews of H13762 will be done
    for fill and recoveries.

OPR-E347-KR-22 Central Chesapeake Bay, MD

Recap

  • Survey operations on the R/V Oyster Bay II continued to fill holidays on H13513 and H13511.
  • On Wednesday 12APR2023, the vessel operations were shut down to finalize gap coverage analysis of the data.

  • Survey operations on the R/V Oyster Bay II acquisition will will continue later in the week when final holiday/gap fill plans are ready.
  • Data Processing ongoing in the Newport, RI Data Center and Field Office.
