  • The ship is navigating through a few outstanding items associated with their winter repair package and looking forward to resuming operations in the Spring.

THOMAS JEFFERSON

Recap
  • NOAA Ship Thomas Jefferson transited to Galveston, TX and arrived at Pier 16, Galveston, TX on 14MAR2023. The ship completed HSRR for EM710 and SSS.

Looking Forward

  • Thomas Jefferson will depart Galveston, TX on 22MAR2023 and commence survey operations on OPR-K371-TJ-23.

Fairweather

Recap:

  • NOAA Ship Fairweather completed ORT and HSRR, although weather conditions prohibited small boat operations.

Looking Forward

  • Fairweather will transit to the EXPRESS project area offshore of Oregon, where they will continue survey operations from 2022.
  • Fairweather will transit into Newport for a scheduled port call on 22MAR2023.

  • NOAA Ship Rainier completed RICHARD Mobilization/Dive ORT and began transiting from Honolulu, HI to Pago Pago, AS.

Recap

  • Mobilization for this project began on 29JAN2023 and field operations began on 05FEB2023.
  • R/V 505 mobilized on 12MAR2023, and reran MBES only lines in H13766 on 13MAR2023, as well as a MBES patch test.
  • R/V 505 conducted a partial day of mainscheme MBES and SSS data acquisition in H13766 on 14MAR2023 due to weather, no survey on 15MAR2023 due to weather, mainscheme in both H13766 and H13767 on 16MAR2023, a partial day of mainscheme in H13766 on 17MAR2023 due to mechanical issues with its SSS cable, and mainscheme in H13766 on 18MAR2023.
  • R/V Endeavor conducted mainscheme MBES and SSS data acquistion in H13766 on
    12MAR2023, no surveys on 13MAR2023 and 14MAR2023 due to mechanical issues, no survey on 15MAR2023 due to weather, and mainscheme in H13767 on 16MAR2023-18MAR2023
  • R/V Pulse, R/V Spectrum, and R/V Voxel conducted mainscheme MBES and SSS data acquisition in H13766 on 12MAR2023. R/V Pulse and R/V Spectrum conducted MBES only in H13767 for NALL exploration and verification on 13MAR2023, and R/V Voxel conducted mainscheme MBES and SSS data acquisition in H13766.
  • R/V Pulse, R/V Spectrum, and R/V Voxel conducted a partial day of mainscheme in
    H13766 on 14MAR2023 due to weather, no survey on 15MAR2023 due to weather, mainscheme in H13767 on 16MAR2023, and mainscheme in H13766 on 17MAR2023 and 18MAR2023
  • R/V Taku was offsite for mechanical repairs to its lower units on 12MAR2023-14MAR2023, had no survey on 15MAR2023 due to weather, mainscheme MBES and SSS data acquition in H13767 on 16MAR2023, and mainscheme in H13766 on 17MAR2023 and 18MAR2023

Looking Forward

  • All vessels anticipate to conduct mainscheme MBES and SSS data acquisition in H13766 and H13767, dependent on weather.
  • Office staff will continue processing and reporting. Office staff will also create the holiday and investigation plan for H13765.
