Highlights of this edition

OPR-F364-FH-22 Onslow Bay, NC

Recap
  • NOAA Ship Ferdinand R. Hassler continued operations in Onslow Bay.
  • Continued acquisition on H13957 which is approximately 95% complete. Holidays and bottom samples remain

  • Sheets H13594, H13595, H13596 and H13600 are 100% complete.
  • Arrived in Morehead City, NC for a scheduled port all on 16SEPT2022.

Looking Forward

  • Ferdinand R. Hassler will return to survey grounds and continue operations on H13597 and open either H13601 or H13599.

THOMAS JEFFERSON

OPR-W386-TJ-22 Approaches to Cleveland, OH

Recap
  • The NOAA Ship Thomas Jefferson got underway from the Port of Cleveland on 12SEPT2022 and began conducting survey operations on OPR-W386-TJ-22.

  • The ship and autonomous survey vehicle, DriX, acquired multibeam simultaneously on H13682 and H13687, while 2903 acquired multibeam on H13608.

Looking Forward

  • Thomas Jefferson, DriX, and 2903 will continue conducting survey operations on OPR-W386-TJ-22, acquiring on sheets H13687 and H13614.

Fairweather

OPR-O190-FA-22 West Prince of Wales, Alaska

Recap:

  • NOAA Ship Fairweather conducted Optionally Crewed Hydrographic Launch development and testing in Sumner Strait.

  • Minimal hydrographic acquisition completed, but training and stage 2 development on the system is complete.

Looking Forward

  • Fairweather will continue operations in West Prince of Wales and then crew will rest in Juneau.

RAINIER

  • NOAA Ship Rainier has concluded their field season and is alongside in Honolulu, Hawaii!

Recap

  •  The 30’ vessel R/V Oyster Bay II commenced survey operations on Sheets 7 (H13517) and 9 (H13685). Sheet decisions were based on weather conditions.
  • Transit of the 135’ vessel R/V Sea Innovator I to Baltimore, MD.

Looking Forward

  • Continue survey operations on the R/V Oyster Bay II.
  • Hydrographic Survey crew travel to Baltimore Monday 19SEPT2022.
  • R/V Sea Innovator I scheduled to arrive in Baltimore, MD 19SEPT2022.
