Looking Forward

  • Ferdinand R. Hassler will be pier side for a week of scheduled maintenance before returning to Onslow Bay working ground on 31AUG2022.

OPR-W386-TJ-22 Approaches to Cleveland, OH and OPR-W387-TJ-22 Detroit River

  • NOAA Ship Thomas Jefferson conducted survey operations on OPR-W386-TJ-22, acquiring on sheets H13608, H13611, H13683, H13682, and F00864.

  • TJ Launch 2904 conducted joint survey operations on OPR-W387-TJ-22 with NRT New London as part of the Detroit field party! 

Looking Forward

  • NOAA Ship Thomas Jefferson will continue conducting survey operations on OPR-W386-TJ-22 and OPR-W387-TJ-22 prior to arriving for its regularly scheduled inport on 24AUG2022

Looking Forward

  • NOAA Ship Fairweather will be transiting to Alaska to conduct multibeam sonar acquisition on OPR-O190-FA-22 West Prince of Wales, Alaska.

RAINIER 

OPR-T381-RA-22 Mariana Islands

Recap
  • NOAA Ship Rainier got underway on Thursday and continued survey on H13572 (Saipan), H13573 (Tinian), H13576 (Rota), and H13584 (Sarigan - Zealandia).

  • Launch and ship survey were completed on Tinian.
  • Fishing operations were also conducted this week.

Looking Forward

  • Rainier will continue launch and ship survey on H13576 (Rota), H13572 (Saipan), H13573 (Tinian), H13586 (Anatahan), H13584 (Sarigan - Zealandia Bank), and H13582 (Agrihan). Fishing operations will also be conducted during this time.
  • The ship will pull into Guam for a scheduled inport on Thursday.

  • Fill and investigations in H13645 and H13646.

OPR-R320-KR-22 Cape Newenham, AK

Recap

  • JOA staff have been monitoring tide stations remotely.
  • Office staff are continuing processing and reporting.

Looking Forward

  • This week, JOA will conduct a trip to make staff observations and repairs to the Togiak and Goodnews Bay tide gauges.

OPR-Y396-KR-22 Western Lake Michigan, WI

Recap

  • The R/V Benthos had an issue with the port engine early in the week and is now only operable with the starboard engine.
  • The R/V Benthos was able to complete additional fill in H13636 and H13637, and collected the closeout performance test. 
  • The R/V Substantial  completed additional fill and crosslines in H13635, H13636, and H13637 along with bottom sample collection.

Looking Forward

  • R/V Substantial will continue fill and investigations in all remaining sheets upon a detailed review. 
  • R/V Benthos will be on standby for additional fill if necessary.

OPR-B315-KR-22 Approaches to Newport, RI

Recap

  • M/V Northstar Challenger continued 24- hour survey operations with a port call for maintenance mid-week. 
  • R/V North Cove and R/V South Cove collected mainscheme and crossline data before pausing for a weather day mid-week.
  • R/V South Cove went down for staffing reasons, and R/V North Cove continued surveying in H13659 and H13660 for the remainder of the week.
  • The survey will likely be completed by M/V Northstar Challenger and R/V North Cove.

Looking Forward

  • M/V Challenger will continue in H13663 and H13557.
  • R/V North Cove will continue in H13559 and H13560, before moving to H13557.

OPR-R302-KR-22 Nunivak, AK

Recap

  • The Qualifier 105 (Q105) with ASV C-Worker 5 (ASV) began the week surveying in H13593.
  • ASV experienced weather downtime this week and some minor survey equipment issues.
  • Completed cleanup work in H13592 (infills, crosslines, remaining bottom samples, and SDB checklines) on 18AUG2022.
  • Performed MBES infills and additional LNM acquisition in F00847 on 18AUG2022 and into the beginning of 19AUG2022. F00847 was complete as of 19AUG2022.
  • All project field acquisition completed as of 19AUG2022.
  • Arrived Bethel 19AUG2022, and most survey crew departed. Vessel began transit to Homer for demobilization.

Looking Forward

  • Q105 should arrive in Homer by 24AUG2022, weather permitting. Demobilization will begin upon arrival in Homer.
  • Demobilization should be complete by end of week.
