Highlights of this edition

  • NOAA Ship Fairweather resumed survey operations for OPR-L361-FA-21 San Francisco Bay.
  • Geodynamics' R/V Benthos collected mainscheme multibeam survey data and continued to mobilize R/V Substantial for OPR-Y396-KR-22 Western Lake Michigan, WI.

  • NOAA Ship Ferdinand R. Hassler continued survey operations on sheets H13620, H13621, H13622, H13625, H13626, H13627, and H13628.

  • She departed working ground 12MAY2022 for port call in Pascagoula, MS.

Looking Forward

  • NOAA Ship Ferdinand R. Hassler will transit to survey grounds on 16MAY2022 to resume mainscheme acquisition. Next port call is Pascagoula, MS on 27MAY2022.

OPR-W386-TJ-22 Approaches to Cleveland, OH

  • NOAA Ship Thomas Jefferson conducted survey operations on OPR-W386-TJ-22, acquiring on sheets H13607, H13609, and H13616. The ship completed mainscheme and crossline acquisition on H13616.

  • The ship arrived for their scheduled inport in Cleveland on 13MAY2022.
Looking Forward
  • NOAA Ship Thomas Jefferson will depart Cleveland on 16MAY2022 and continue acquiring on H13609, H13616, and H13617.

FAIRWEATHER 

OPR-L361-FA-21 San Francisco Bay

  • NOAA Ship Fairweather opened sheet H13543 and had three launches out survey from 12MAY to 14MAY2022.

  • NOAA Ship Fairweather will conduct Fleet Inspection from 17MAY to 19MAY2022.

RAINIER

OPR-T381-RA-22 Mariana Islands

Recap
  • NOAA Ship Rainier went underway on 09MAY and continued to work on H13571 (Guam), H13574 (Apra Harbo), and H13576 (Rota) while conducing dive operations. She has been able to get work done on the windward side of Guam towards the end of the week.

Looking Forward
  • NOAA Ship Rainier will continue surveying on H13572 (Saipan), H13573 (Tinian), H13578 (Pagan), and H13579 (Maug) while also conducting dive operations.

OPR-Y396-KR-22 Western Lake Michigan, WI

Recap

  • R/V Benthos collected mainscheme multibeam survey data in sheet H13635 focusing on the nearshore areas.
  • Data processing was conducted at GDX.

Looking Forward

  • R/V Benthos will continue MBES survey in H13635. R/V Substantial planning, logistics, and preparations for transit.

OPR-R320-KR-22 Cape Newenham, AK

Recap

  • R/V Norseman II and WAM-V 22 continued MBES data acquisition in H13569 and began MBES data acquisition in H13565. R/V Norseman II performed a patch test on 08MAY and 09MAY.
  • R/V Norseman II was on standby for weather on 14MAY. The WAM-V 22 completed partial days of survey on 10MAY, 11MAY, and 12MAY due to weather.
  • R/V Thunder has been partially mobilized and has begun barge transportation to Bethel, AK.
  • Office staff continued processing and reporting.

Looking Forward

  • R/V Norseman II and WAM-V 22 will continue MBES data acquisition in H13565. If H13565 is completed, R/V Norseman II and R/V WAM-V 22 will then move to H13568 and H13567 to being MBES data acquisition.
  • R/V Thunder and the associated crew will arrive in Bethel, AK to complete mobilization. R/V Thunder will transit to H13566 to begin MBES data acquisition.
  • Office staff will continue processing and reporting.
