6IMDC Call for Abstracts Closing Soon!

The Sixth International Marine Debris Conference (6IMDC) is seeking a broad range of oral and poster presentations. With a total of 75 sessions, abstract and poster submissions for the 6IMDC ten track areas are welcome. Visit the 6IMDC website to submit your ideas, secure your spot with early registration, and check out the many opportunities for participation.

How We Respond to Hurricane Debris

 
Tropical storms and hurricanes cause significant quantities of marine debris. While search and rescue and humanitarian responses are ongoing, the NOAA Marine Debris Program and other marine debris organizations gather critical information, maps and debris reports to start the long process of addressing the storm debris.

Zero Waste Campaign in Alaska

The Center for Alaskan Coastal Studies is building awareness of marine debris through field experiences and zero waste campaigns at local schools and businesses on the Kenai Peninsula and in Anchorage, Alaska.

Debris Disposal Challenges in Alaska

How do you dispose of marine debris in a place where recycling and landfill options are limited? Massive amounts of debris are removed from the extensive Alaskan coastline every year, with few places available for it to go. Our partners in Alaska are always coming up with new and innovative ways to dispose of debris outside of the state.
