America Makes Announces QTIME Project Call Worth $5M in Funding 

America Makes and the National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining (NCDMM) are proud to announce a new open project call worth a total of $5 million. The project call, Quality Test and Inspection Methods Expediency (QTIME), focuses on the use of non-destructive inspection techniques for additive manufacturing processes, specifically laser powder bed fusion and directed energy deposition. Up to five awards are anticipated. This project call is in addition to the previously announced Improvements in Manufacturing Productivity via Additive Capabilities and Techno-Economic Analysis 3.0 (IMPACT 3.0). 

BioMADE Plans Major Investment in Minnesota and New Facility in California 

Two exciting facilities projects are in the works for BioMADE. The institute announced Maple Grove as the Minnesota site in its national network of bioindustrial manufacturing infrastructure. In addition, BioMADE has reached an agreement with Lygos, a pioneering sustainable specialty chemicals company, to transition its pilot-scale biomanufacturing infrastructure into a nationally available, multi-user facility in Hayward, California. Both sites will help expand domestic bioindustrial manufacturing capabilities, strengthen national security, and secure domestic supply chains for needed materials.
