Career Awareness Week
The Countdown Begins

|
|
Are you ready for National Cybersecurity Career Awareness Week?
National Cybersecurity Career Awareness Week, brought to you by the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE), is an opportunity for government, business, education, community-based organizations, students, and workers to inspire, educate, and engage citizens to pursue careers in cybersecurity. The week-long campaign provides an opportunity to learn about the contributions and innovations of cybersecurity practitioners, and the plethora of job opportunities that can be found when exploring cybersecurity as a career choice.
We’re asking members of the NICE community to spread the word by using the hashtags #cybercareerweek and #mycyberjob. By doing so you’ll be joining a national movement to elevate and expand the conversation around the positive impact in building the cybersecurity workforce in America.
Here are just a few of the partner resources and activities developed for National Cybersecurity Career Awareness Week to help advocate for pursuing a career in cybersecurity:

Pockenacci is a very simple block cipher that has been tested amongst 8-18 year-old students. It is built to emulate a Substitution-Permutation Network which is a series of substitutions and permutations that act on plaintext that is controlled by an algorithm that an adversary can see but configured with a key that they can't see. The open-source project (PocketBlock) scales down modern cryptography in a way that's as easy to understand and navigate in a hands-on manner as classical cryptography but teaches the advanced concepts present in modern cryptography.
Pockenacci consists of the following components:
- Fibonacci-addition-style key schedule to expand our key,
- Two P-boxes for permuting columns and rows, and two S-boxes for substituting individual characters
