Request for Information – Technology Transfer: Return on Investment
Last month NIST issued a Request for Information (RFI) in the Federal Register to gather information about the current state of Federal technology transfer and the public’s ability to engage with Federal laboratories and access federally funded R&D through collaborations, licensing, and other mechanisms. NIST hosted three public forums in May to allow stakeholders the opportunity to share their thoughts.
An additional public forum is being held at NIST in Gaithersburg, MD on June 14, 2018. Learn More / Registration Information>>

NIST Launches
Study of Hurricane Maria’s Impact on Puerto Rico
NIST will study the impacts of Hurricane Maria on Puerto
Rico, focusing on the performance of critical buildings and their dependence on
distributed infrastructure, as well as emergency communications. Under the National Construction Safety Team
(NCST) Act, signed into law in 2002, NIST is authorized to establish teams to
investigate building failures that have resulted in substantial loss of life or
that posed the potential for substantial loss of life. Based on preliminary reconnaissance to Puerto
Rico in December 2017, NIST Director Dr. Copan has authorized a full NCST
investigation. This is the first NCST
investigation in the aftermath of a major hurricane. Read More>>
