The National Institute of Mental Health is issuing a Notice of Special Interest for research to strengthen the mental health response to Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) and future public health emergencies, including pandemics. This Notice is available for investigators with ongoing NIMH funded studies to apply for administrative (within scope of parent award) or competitive (proposes work outside the scope of parent award) revision supplements to address research gaps that will meet urgent public health needs.

- The effect on mental health of both the virus itself and public health measures intended to prevent the spread of COVID-19
- Research addressing the intersection of COVID-19, mental health, and HIV treatment and prevention
- Development and testing of technology to enable practical, scalable, and sustainable mental health screening, triage, and prevention and treatment interventions, particularly for high-risk populations
