SAM.gov will be down beginning Friday, April 1, 2022 at 8:00 p.m. ET and will be back online no later than Monday, April 4, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. ET.
What this means for SBIR/STTR applicants
Starting Monday, April 4, 2022, the new Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) generated in SAM.gov will be the official, governmentwide identifier used for federal awards. The UEI is replacing the Dun & Bradstreet Universal Numbering System (DUNS) number. When SAM.gov is back online, DUNS Numbers will no longer be displayed or accepted for entity registration, reporting, or searching.
If you're applying for NIH Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) or Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) funding by the Tuesday, April 5 deadline, please note the following:
ALL SBIR & STTR applicants must have a UEI at the time of application.
NEW APPLICANTS: The last day to obtain a new DUNS Number for the purpose of getting a UEI or registering in SAM.gov is Tuesday, March 29.
No additional action is required for CURRENT NIH SBIR & STTR AWARDEES. Your UEI was automatically generated and can be found:
- in the Institutional Profile File (IPF).
- populated on Page One of the Notice of Award.
- in both SAM.gov and Grants.gov.
Existing SAM.gov entity registration with an expiration date between March 18, 2022, and April 18, 2022 will have an automatic, 60-day extension - no action is required.
Don’t forget new applicants must complete multiple registrations before preparing an application and applying for funding.
