New Funding Opportunities

The NIH Guide recently published the following funding opportunity announcements (FOAs) with NINR participation.

  • The Maximizing Opportunities for Scientific and Academic Independent Careers (MOSAIC) program is part of NIH’s efforts to enhance diversity within the academic biomedical research workforce. The Postdoctoral Career Transition Award to Promote Diversity (K99/R00) FOAs have just been reissued (see PAR-21-271PAR-21-272, and PAR-21-273)Next Deadline: October 27, 2021
  • PAR-21-213 via NOT-NR-21-007: Urgent Award: Social, Behavioral, and Economic Research on COVID-19 Consortium (U01 Clinical Trial Not Allowed) will support studies to integrate and analyze existing data to advance research on the impact of SARS-CoV-2 and associated mitigation efforts on individual, family, and community behavior. Applications Due: November 8, 2021
  • NOT-MH-21-330: Notice of Special Interest (NOSI): Social, Behavioral, and Economic Impact of COVID-19 in Underserved and Vulnerable Populations seeks to highlight research to strengthen the understanding and response to the COVID-19 pandemic and help us prepare more effectively for future public health emergencies. First Available Due Date: October 5, 2021
  • NOT-NS-21-068: HEAL Initiative: NOSI regarding the Availability of Administrative Supplements to Support Strategies to Advance the Study of Chronic Overlapping Pain Conditions (COPCs) encourages clinical and translational research that will increase our understanding of the prevalence, psychological variables, and response to therapy in those individuals with multiple COPCs. First Available Due Date: November 5, 2021
  • NOT-AT-21-015: Notice of Intent to Publish a Funding Opportunity Announcement for NIH Health Care Systems Research Collaboratory - Pragmatic and Implementation Trials of Embedded Interventions (UG3/UH3 Clinical Trials Optional) will solicit applications for phased cooperative research applications to conduct efficient, large-scale embedded pragmatic or implementation trials within health care systems. Estimated FOA Publication Date: September 2021
  • NOT-AT-21-017: Notice of Intent to Publish a Funding Opportunity Announcement for HEAL Initiative: Sickle Cell Disease Pain Management Trials Utilizing the Pain Effectiveness Research Network Cooperative Agreement (UG3/UH3, Clinical Trial Required) will support multisite effectiveness clinical trials of multicomponent nonopioid pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic approaches for acute and/or chronic sickle cell disease (SCD) pain management. Estimated FOA Publication Date: October 15, 2021
  • NOT-AT-21-018: Notice of Intent to Publish a Funding Opportunity Announcement for HEAL Initiative: Pragmatic and Implementation Studies for the Management of Sickle Cell Disease Pain (UG3/UH3, Clinical Trials Optional) supports multisite pragmatic or implementation trials to inform the uptake of nonopioid pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic approaches for acute and chronic sickle cell disease pain management in health care systems that serve the SCD population. NINR continues to seek meritorious applications for Diversity and Re-entry supplements:

  • PA-21-071: Research Supplements to Promote Diversity in Health-Related Research provides funds for supporting students, postdoctorates, and eligible investigators from diverse backgrounds to enhance the diversity of the research workforce. Expiration Date: May 8, 2023 
  • NOT-OD-21-134: NOSI - Research Supplements to Promote Re-Entry and Re-integration into Health-Related Research Careers (Admin Supp - Clinical Trial Not Allowed) provide support for a mentored research training experience for individuals with high potential to re-enter or re-integrate into an active research career, after an interruption for family responsibilities or other qualifying circumstances described below. Expiration Date: October 7, 2023
