Use NDEP Tools to Stay Healthy During the Holidays
The holiday season is a time for celebrating with family and friends. For many people, this means traveling, reuniting over holiday meals and treats, and spending less time being physically active – which can make the holidays particularly hard for people working to manage or prevent diabetes. Visit NDEP's December promotions calendar for resources to help people stay healthy during the holidays.
Diabetes & Depression
For people with diabetes, the holidays can also be stressful and emotionally challenging. Visit NDEP’s Diabetes HealthSense online tool for resources to help people deal with stress and emotions, such as Helpguide’s Bring Your Life into Balance program. Employers can also get information to help employees who have diabetes and depression by visiting NDEP’s Diabetes at Work: What’s Depression Got to Do with It? web page. Another useful resource is NDEP’s Living a Balanced Life with Diabetes Toolkit, designed to help health care professionals address psychosocial issues with American Indian and Alaska Native Peoples.
Use NDEP’s Practice Transformation Resource to Improve Practice Quality
The NDEP’s Practice Transformation resource is designed for health care professionals and administrators who want to change systems of health care delivery around diabetes. Visit the Improve Practice Quality section to help partners learn how to transform their practice into a patient-centered medical home (PCMH).

Diabetes & the Flu
It’s still flu season. People with diabetes are at high risk for serious flu complications, and the best way to prevent the flu is by getting vaccinated each year. Encourage everyone – especially those with diabetes – to get a flu shot. Find out about the other important vaccines that all adults with diabetes need.
