COPYRIGHT ROYALTY JUDGES REQUEST COMMENTS ON PROPOSED ROYALTY RATES FOR DIGITAL TRANSMISSION OF SOUND RECORDINGS BY NEW SUBSCRIPTION SERVICES FOR 2016 THROUGH 2020 (80 FR 2065)

 

The Copyright Royalty Judges are publishing for comment proposed regulations to set royalty rates and terms for digital transmission of sound recordings by new subscription services and for the making of ephemeral recordings to facilitate those transmissions under sections 112 and 114 of the Copyright Act. The proposed rates and terms, received in a joint motion from SoundExchange, Inc., and Sirius XM Radio, Inc., would apply to music services available on cable and satellite television for the period from January 1, 2016, through December 31, 2020.
