The Hispanic Division, the Hispanic Cultural Society, in partnership with Spain Arts and Culture, invite you to the screening of Isaki Lacuesta'€™s film "€œThe Legend of Time"€ (€"La leyenda del tiempo"€), which honors the legacy of Camaron de la Isla, the legendary flamenco singer who died in 1992. The film explores the lives of two characters: Isra is a 12-year-old talented gypsy boy who lives in San Fernando ("€œla Isla"€) in Andalusia, Spain, and Makiko, a young Japanese nurse who comes from Tokyo to San Fernando so she can learn to sing like Camaron de la Isla. Independent scholar Ellen Echeverria, and Shoko Hamano, professor of Japanese, George Washington University, will discuss the film.

The screening will be held on Monday, March 10th at 12 noon in the Mary Pickford Theater of the Library of Congress (Madison Building, 3rd Floor). The event is free and open to the public. Contact: cgom@loc.gov.
