The analyst will possess knowledge of the theories, concepts, principles, issues, and/or practices of natural resources policy as applies to fish and wildlife, the biological sciences, and species management. The analyst will also have knowledge of the history, trends, and current status of natural resources policy and interrelationships of natural resources policy with other key ecosystem, conservation, protection, and multi-use issues. The ideal candidate will demonstrate ability to develop expertise in new areas.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate ability to analyze the history, trends, current status, and science behind natural resources policy as applies to fish and wildlife, the biological sciences, and species management, and interrelationships of federal programs and policies with the positions of key state, industry, academic, and nongovernmental stakeholders.
