Visitors are invited to enjoy happy hour drinks and food available for purchase in the Great Hall and the Jefferson Building’s beautiful architecture while immersing themselves in the Library’s exhibits, collections and programs.

Join us for the kick-off of this year’s series, a screening of “Iron Man” (2008), the first film in what would become known as the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Run time 2 hours, 4 minutes. Before the film, enjoy a live performance from Batalá Washington, D.C.’s all-women Afro-Brazilian drumming troop, at 7 p.m.

Join us for a discussion of "Making Mexican Chicago" with Georgetown University history professor and author, Mike Amezcua, Manuscript Division historian Ryan Reft, and Manuscript Division reference librarian, Loretta Deaver.
Join Kluge Prize winner George Chauncey for a public event looking at the legacy of the AIDS crisis and the activism surrounding it. This event will be available livestreamed and in-person in room LJ-119 of the Thomas Jefferson Building at the Library of Congress.
Join us for an array of iconic films screenings at the Packard Campus Theater. Programs are free and open to the public. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Seating at the screenings is on a first-come, first-served basis unless otherwise noted.
The Library of Congress will host its annual “Summer Movies on the Lawn” series starting July 6. The series featuring films from the Library’s National Film Registry will be presented Thursday evenings at sundown on the southeast lawn of the Library’s Thomas Jefferson Building. Music will be presented prior to each film, with live performances on July 6, July 20 and Aug. 3.
