During her time as Library of Congress Staff Fellow at the John W. Kluge Center, historian AJ Aiseirithe has been researching the story of Robert Purvis, a prominent Philadelphia abolitionist of the 19th Century. Despite his relationships with famous figures like Frederick Douglass and his leadership in the anti-slavery movement, much remains to be understood about his life. Join Aiseirithe and University of Massachusetts Boston history professor emerita Julie Winch for a discussion of Purvis, his world, and the challenges of researching his life.
