From China To Appalachia, Concert featuring Cathy Fink & Marcy Marxer with Chao Tian

Grammy Award winning American Roots artists Cathy Fink & Marcy Marxer join with Chinese classical hammered dulcimer player Chao Tian in a show that combines music from China to Appalachia and beyond. Instrumentation includes yangqin (Chinese hammered dulcimer), gourd banjo, five-string banjo, ukulele, guitars, dumbek, cello-banjo and mandolin. The group’s repertoire includes traditional Chinese and Appalachian music as well as contemporary and traditional music

The Library hosts a symposium in collaboration with Opera Lafayette presenting distinguished French and American scholars involved with the rediscovery, completion and premieres of two significant 18th-century opéra-ballets: Jean-Philippe Rameau’s "Io" and Pierre de la Garde’s "Léandre et Héro."
Join us for an array of iconic films screenings at the Packard Campus Theater. Programs are free and open to the public. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Seating at the screenings is on a first-come, first-served basis unless otherwise noted.
American Impact on the Culture of the Republic of Vietnam

Join us for a special event with modern Vietnam experts, Tuan Hoang and Wynn Gadkar-Wilcox. They seek to flesh out Vietnamese experiences of decolonization and the Cold War, including their exposure to American culture before and during direct intervention of the U.S. in the Vietnam War.
