The Library of Congress joins forces with DC JazzFest to celebrate the 100th birth year and the legacy and contributions of the virtuoso bassist, bandleader and prolific composer Charles Mingus. On an evening filled with musical magic, the Mingus Dynasty Quintet and pianist Helen Sung will pay tribute to the icon, one of the most significant jazz composers of the twentieth century.

The Grammy-winning New York-based Harlem Quartet and pianist-composer Michael Brown come to the Library with a fierce program that features the beauty and versatility of the string quartet and piano. Known for its concept of cross-pollination, the idea that there are common factors across different musical styles, the Harlem Quartet brings together a diverse program drawn from composers of different times and backgrounds.
Claudy Op den Kamp on Her Identification of the First Motion Picture Ever Copyrighted

Join the John W. Kluge Center for an interview with Claudy Op den Kamp, Principal Academic in Film at Bournemouth University, UK, on a significant discovery in film history that she made while in residence at the Library of Congress.
Join us for an array of iconic films screenings at the Packard Campus Theater. Programs are free and open to the public. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Seating at the screenings is on a first-come, first-served basis unless otherwise noted.
Finding Pictures: In Celebration of National Arab American Heritage Month
Wednesday, April 19, 3-4 p.m. ET
Celebrate National Arab American Heritage Month with a selection of pictures by and about the diverse Arab American community. Join Curator Sara W. Duke in a look at photographs, cartoons, and drawings that depict famous people, social life, traditions, and immersion into Arab American culture. The focus of this program will be on images created in the past 50 years.
This orientation is designed to give a basic overview of Congress.gov. While the focus of the session will be searching legislation and the congressional member information attached to the legislation, the new features of Congress.gov will also be highlighted.
