You're invited! Archives Forum presentation on staff transcription, Dec. 9

Please join the Archives Forum and the By the People team as we celebrate Library of Congress staff transcribers at a special presentation on Thursday, December 9 from 2-3PM. All Library staff are welcome and Zoom information is below!

“Making Room in the Crowd: Staff Teleworkers Transcribing in Extraordinary Times”

After the COVID-19 pandemic forced most Library of Congress staff members to go on telework status in spring 2020, the Library’s By the People (BtP) crowdsourcing program pivoted quickly to create staff-only transcription campaigns that allowed teleworking staff to remain productive and engage with the collections, while also advancing the Library’s mission. Staff found additional opportunities to contribute to public BtP campaigns, often utilizing vital language and research skills in transcribing these materials. Join the Archives Forum to hear By the People community managers and other Library staff discuss the positive results of expanded staff participation in transcription campaigns, and share unexpected discoveries made along the way. If you contributed to a By the People campaign during telework, we invite you to attend and share your own experience during the Q&A section!
