This Pick of the Week features the 2020 virtual performance of the Tambuco percussion ensemble. Four of the world's top percussionists, the Tambuco's players, are masters of contemporary and vernacular styles. "Mesmerizing creativity…subtle and forceful artistry…," comments Gramophone, "the members of Tambuco are chameleons on dozens of instruments." The quartet has toured the globe for a quarter-century. It is sought after by partners like Gustavo Dudamel and the L.A. Phil for projects like the orchestra's special centennial commission from Gabriela Ortiz. Don't miss their breathtaking performance for the Library's annual Founder's Day concert, coming to us from their studio in Veracruz, Mexico.
