While a revolutionary crowd gathers outside the Iolani palace gates on January 14, 1893, Queen Liliuokalani is forced to relinquish control of the Hawaiian government. With the Queen dethroned, years of political turmoil would follow until Hawaii was officially annexed to the United States in 1898.
