Copyright Royalty Judges Announce the Commencement of a Proceeding (Web V) to Determine Reasonable Rates and Terms for Two Statutory Licenses
The Copyright Royalty Judges announce the commencement of a proceeding to determine reasonable rates and terms for two statutory licenses permitting the digital performance of sound recordings over the internet and the making of ephemeral recordings to facilitate those performances for the period beginning January 1, 2021, and ending December 31, 2025. A party wishing to participate in the rate determination proceeding must file its Petition to Participate and the accompanying $150 filing fee no later than February 4, 2019. In addition, the Judges strongly encourage all those planning to file Petitions to Participate to check the status of their eCRB account well before February 4 to ensure that it is active or, if they have no user account yet, to register for one. (Note: The fee payment function in eCRB will be unavailable on January 26 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. eastern time due to deployment of a new release of Pay.gov.)
