Food for Thought as We Approach Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

The Veterans History Project (VHP) of the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress asks that you make Monday, January 18, 2016, "A Day On, Not a Day Off." Volunteer to record the wartime story of the veteran in your life and submit it to VHP where it will be preserved and made accessible for future generations.

Find out how to participate and download required forms at www.loc.gov/vets. Read a blog post about making the most out of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s holiday at http://blogs.loc.gov/folklife/2016/01/consider-making-monday-a-day-on-not-a-day-off/.

Dr. King once said, "Life's most persistent and urgent question is: 'What are you doing for others?'"

VHP asks that on Monday you will respond: “Interviewing a veteran for the Library of Congress Veterans History Project.”

The Mission of the Veterans History Project of the Library of Congress American Folklife Center is to collect, preserve and make accessible the personal accounts of American war veterans so that future generations may hear directly from veterans and better understand the realities of war. Learn more at www.loc.gov/vets. Share your exciting VHP initiatives, programs, events` and news stories with VHP to be considered for a future RSS.
