COPYRIGHT ROYALTY JUDGES ANNOUNCE ROYALTY RATES FOR DIGITAL PERFORMANCE OF SOUND RECORDINGS AND MAKING OF EPHEMERAL RECORDINGS BY NEW SUBSCRIPTION SERVICES (80 FR 36927)

The Copyright Royalty Judges have published final regulations setting rates and terms under sections 112 and 114 of the Copyright Act for the use of sound recordings in digital transmissions by new subscription services and for the making of ephemeral recordings to facilitate those transmissions. The rates apply to the period from January 1, 2016, through December 31, 2020. For more information, go to www.loc.gov/crb/fedreg.

July 6, 2015: Due date for petitions to participate in proceedings to determine distribution of 2013 cable and satellite royalties (80 FR 32182).

July 20, 2015: Due date for petitions to participate in proceeding to adjust cable royalty rates (80 FR 35403).

January 1, 2016: Effective date for rates for digital performance of sound recording by new subscription services for January 1, 2016, through December 31, 2020 (80 FR 36927).
