COPYRIGHT ROYALTY JUDGES ANNOUNCE COST-OF-LIVING ADJUSTMENT IN ROYALTY RATES FOR SATELLITE STATUTORY LICENSE (80 FR 22417)
The Copyright Royalty Judges are announcing a cost-of-living adjustment of 1.7 percent in the royalty rates satellite carriers pay under the statutory license in section 119 of the Copyright Act. The rates take effect immediately and apply to the period from January 1, 2015, through December 31, 2015. For details, go to www.loc.gov/crb/fedreg.
COPYRIGHT ROYALTY JUDGES ANNOUNCE WITHDRAWAL OF COMMENCEMENT OF PROCEEDING TO DETERMINE ROYALTY RATES FOR SATELLITE STATUTORY LICENSE (80 FR 22563)
Based on a reconsideration of congressional intent behind enactment of the STELA Reauthorization Act of 2014, the Copyright Royalty Judges are withdrawing the commencement of the proceeding announced on March 30, 2015 (80 FR 16702), to determine royalty rates for secondary transmission of broadcasts by satellite carriers and distributors. The judges have determined that the rates in effect on December 31, 2014, continue in effect, subject only to the annual royalty fee adjustment in section 119(c)(1)(e) of the Copyright Act.
