U.S. Department of State will host a webinar that provides an overview of the Latvian

Reverse Trade Mission: Brazil Waste-to-Energy and Landfill Gas-to-Energy - Various cities June 23-July 3, 2013 - The
U.S. Trade and Development Agency will bring representatives from Brazil to
learn about the latest U.S. waste-to-energy and landfill gas-to-energy
technologies and best practices. The delegates will tour project sites and meet
with U.S. companies in Long Beach, CA; Washington, DC; and Orlando, FL.
Clean Energy Expo China - Beijing, China July 3-5, 2013 - The Clean Energy Expo China 2013 (CEEC) at the China National
Convention Center in Beijing is one of the largest and most influential
events of its kind in Asia, attracting key decision makers in China’s
clean energy industry. The Commercial Service of the U.S. Embassy in
China will host a U.S. Pavilion for U.S. firms.
Clean Energy Business Forum - Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic July 17-18, 2013 - Co-hosted by the American Chamber of Commerce of the
Dominican Republic and the U.S. Commercial Service, the Clean Energy Business
Forum 2013 promotes opportunities for clean energy development in the Caribbean
region. The Forum includes presentations on key issues for project development
in the region and opportunities for networking with local market players.
Energy and Environment Trade Mission to Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines - Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Manila September 15-21, 2013 - Members of this
delegation will have briefings, networking receptions, and one-on-one
business meetings with potential customers, partners and local
representatives at each mission stop, in addition to meetings with
government and Asian Development Bank officials. The deadline to apply
is July 26.

RE&EE Advisory Committee Meeting Materials Posted Online On May
1, the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Advisory Committee (RE&EEAC)
held their second meeting. Presentations made by three sub-teams are
available on the RE&EEAC website. Also, the minutes from the February
20 meeting have been posted. [May 2013]
FirmGreen, Inc. Named Ex-Im Bank Renewable Energy Exporter of the Year FirmGreen, Inc., a small firm that produces biogas equipment and
hydrogen technology for fuel cells, was named the Renewable Energy Exporter of
the Year by Export-Import Bank of the United States. Supported by a $48.6
million loan from Ex-Im, FirmGreen’s equipment will help build a biogas plant
in Brazil, creating 165 new jobs at the company’s U.S. facilities. [April 2013]
U.S. Deputy Secretary of Commerce Announces 20 Companies for Infrastructure Trade Mission U.S. Deputy Secretary of Commerce Rebecca Blank announced that 20 U.S.
companies will join her on an infrastructure business development trade mission
to Brazil, Colombia, and Panama from May 12 to 18, 2013. Companies include
Fluidic Energy, a sustainable energy storage company, and OSISoft, Inc., which
develops smart grid technology software.[April 2013]
USTDA Grant Supports Wind Project in Chile The U.S. Trade and Development Agency awarded a $610,000 grant to
Empresa Eólica Tablaruca S.A. of Chile to build a 99 MW wind farm on the
Chilean island of Chiloé. USTDA will also fund a feasibility study, which will
be open to U.S. firms for bidding soon. Check the USTDA Business Opportunities

USTDA and State Department Participate in U.S.-China Energy Cooperation Program USTDA Director Leocadia I. Zak and Secretary of State John Kerry
attended the annual U.S.-China Energy Cooperation Program meeting in Beijing on
April 13, 2013. Director Zak also announced a new smart grid substation
communication architecture pilot project in China led by Cisco Systems, Inc.
and funded by USTDA. [April 2013]
USTDA Awards Grant to Support Smart Grid Development in Vietnam The USTDA awarded a grant to the National Power Transmission
Corporation (EVNNPT) of Vietnam to support a technical assistance program to
expand and modernize Vietnam’s transmission infrastructure. The program also
promotes the priorities of the U.S.-Asia Pacific Comprehensive Partnership for
a Sustainable Energy Future, announced by President Obama in November 2012. [April 2013]
