With a population of 46 million, Iraq’s economy is poised for growth and the government views the airport as the key.
- The government’s capital budget is $42 billion in 2024 with much of it allocated for infrastructure.
- The government completed a technical, legal, environmental, and social feasibility study of the BIAP project with the support of the International Finance Corporation.
- The Iraqi Ministry of Transportation will allocate $100 million to invest in this project. The estimated timeline for project completion is three years.
- U.S. companies continue to seek opportunities in Iraq as the security profile improves.
