Markets Spotlight
Indonesia, the world’s fourth-most populated country and Southeast Asia’s largest economy, counts with strong fundamentals of social stability, strong domestic demand for goods and services, steadily increasing foreign reserves, and stable market with moderate-to-low inflation.
Indonesia’s under-developed public infrastructure is a priority for the government and presents opportunities in rail, transport, and municipal infrastructure projects. Indonesia transportation development plans include tolls, new roads (2,003 miles), and bridges. Projects to build a mass transportation system, totaling $8 billion USD, are planned for the six metropolitan areas of Jakarta, Surabaya, Bandung, Semarang, Medan and Makassar with the goal of reducing economic losses due to traffic jams.
Indonesia is also prioritizing the development of sustainable battery production. Last year, they hosted their first International Battery Summit, addressing topics such as how to accelerate the development of electric vehicle infrastructure.
