Colombia is a growing economy with a large population of women entrepreneurs. The Colombian government is committed to supporting women-owned businesses, and there are opportunities for U.S. companies to partner with these businesses.
Colombia has made important strides in gender equality over the past two decades. It rose to a ranking of 22nd out of 153 countries in the World Economic Forum’s 2020 Global Gender Gap Index, up from 40th out of 149 countries in 2018. The local Chambers of Commerce have been also working to support gender equity advances and a higher representation of women in public institutions and businesses.
Colombia’s total trade with the U.S. amounted to $33 billion in 2022. The U.S. is Colombia's first business partner with a market share of 25% in total trade.
