The U.S. Department of Commerce, International Trade Administration is organizing the Trade Americas – Business Opportunities in South America Conference in São Paulo, Brazil on May 15-16, 2022.
The Conference will focus on regional business opportunities, economic trends and strategies to win business by identifying the right partners, tackling trade barriers and leveraging financing tools. Registered participants can have one-on-one meetings with U.S. commercial diplomats from U.S. Embassies from eleven countries in South America: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname and Uruguay. Participants can also meet with business service providers who can speak to following topics: Export Finance, Logistics, Legal and Intellectual Property, Export Compliance, Trade Barriers and Advocacy, eCommerce, and Marketing. The Associação Brasileira de Entidades Estaduais e Públicas de Tecnologia (“ABEP”) invites submission of qualifications and proposal data (collectively referred to as the “Proposal”) from interested U.S. firms that are qualified on the basis of experience and capability to execute technical assistance for advisory services for 18 months to assist ABEP and four member-state procuring entities in adopting value-based procurement mechanisms for ICT procurements in alignment with Law 14,133. The Proposal submission deadline is March 22, 2022. The U.S. firm selected will be paid in U.S. dollars from a $2,063,500 grant to ABEP from the U.S. Trade and Development Agency.
Brazil: Technical Assistance for the Instituto Rui Barbosa
The Instituto Rui Barbosa (“IRB”) invites submission of qualifications and proposal data (collectively referred to as the “Proposal”) from interested U.S. firms that are qualified on the basis of experience and capability to execute technical assistance for advisory services for 18 months to assist IRB in assessing value for money in public procurement audits and improving the capacity of auditing staff across the Government of Brazil. The Proposal submission deadline is March 22, 2022. The U.S. firm selected will be paid in U.S. dollars from a $1,136,100 grant to IRB from the U.S. Trade and Development Agency.

Ecuador: ICT-Telecommunications-RFP. The National Telecommunications Corporation (CNT E.P.) in Ecuador requires a technical and economic offer from an offeror for the contracting of the data transport capacity service between Ecuador and the EQUINIX NAP in Bogotá, Colombia, in the form of leasing, for a period of 12 months. This contract will allow for the establishment of interconnectivity with content providers like Google and Facebook in order to reduce the use of IP capacity in burst mode, improve the customer experience by reducing latency to content, and to decongest traffic routes. Ecuador. ICT-Satellite Connectivity-RFP. The National Telecommunications Corporation (CNT E.P.) in Ecuador is planning to execute a medium orbit satellite capacity for internet access contracting process to serve our clients in the Galapagos Islands for a period of 18 months. This contract will allow supporting the growth of internet traffic of CNT in the islands. Ecuador: Grupo Futuro seeks to develop a green hydrogen generation project to supply green ammonia to the energy storage market. The production energy source will be renewable, primarily photovoltaic. Hydrogen will be produced through hydrolysis and ammonia using the Haber-Bosch method. Goal: create a team of professionals to develop the project. Feasibility studies of: Solar plant, Transmission line, Hydrogen plant, Water treatment plant, Ammonia plant (NH3). El Salvador: Looking for engineering and consulting firms for a Railroad Network Project. The government of El Salvador is contracting consulting services through an international bidding process to conduct feasibility study for rail transport network at the national level, including 342 km of existing railways and the opening of 193 km of new sections. Jamaica’s Ministry of Science, Energy and Technology (MSET) will receive USD $9,355,000 in IDB financing through the Energy Management and Efficiency Program to retrofit seven hospitals across Jamaica to promote energy efficiency (EE) and conservation measures and reduce CO2 emissions. Jamaica: Jamaica Bernard Lodge Housing and Light Industrial Development The Development Bank of Jamaica Limited (DBJ) is seeking developers to submit proposals for developing lots within the Greater Bernard Lodge Master Plan area. Approximately 1022.38 acres are available for development and the lots are to be privatized via a competitive tender process overseen by an Enterprise Team appointed by Jamaican Cabinet. Jamaica: Deep Retrofit Of 19 Health, Education, Public Agency (HEPA) Facilities For Energy Efficiency (EE). Jamaica’s Ministry of Science, Energy and Technology (MSET) will receive USD $9,355,000 in IDB financing through the Energy Management and Efficiency Program to retrofit nineteen HEPA facilities to promote EE and conservation measures and reduce CO2 emissions. The facilities include a wide range of Government institutions (8 educational facilities, 11 public buildings) across Jamaica, including the Marcus Garvey Technical High School and Ebony Park Heart Academy. Jamaica: Design Supply and Installation of Distributive Solar PV Systems for the Essex Valley Agriculture Project. The design and construction of a plant that will provide power to the irrigation system and related administrative buildings. Paraguay: The Paraguayan weapons control agency (DIMABEL) is reorganizing, and they are interested in software that will allow traceability of the weapons imported legally to Paraguay. DIMABEL is looking for a vendor who can provide a similar product to the Canadian-made Integrated Ballistics Identification System (IBIS) used by the ATF. IBIS is an automated software that produces, acquires, stores, and compares the digital images of the markings made on projectiles- bullets, cartridge cases, and shotshells seized from the crime scene and test-fired weapons.
