ECOBiotix social for ET Newsletter

We are excited to share examples of how we work with companies to help them prepare to enter or navigate a new market. This month we highlight ECOBiotix from Maryland.

ECOBiotix produces a customized blend of bio-surfactants, microbes and enzymes to enhance the efficiency of wastewater treatment plants by mitigating carcinogens and hazardous materials. The company wanted to start exporting and contacted the U.S. Commercial Service (CS) Baltimore office for help.

CS Baltimore encouraged the firm to participate in its ExporTech, a nationally recognized 3-month program designed to help U.S. companies develop and launch an export plan, and guided ECOBiotix through the export process. As part of their participation, ECOBiotix learned about export opportunities in Africa and then pursued and secured a partner in Guinea. They then negotiated their very first international sale worth $51,000.

“Thank you so much for your continuous support and guidance, we could not have done this without your help. It is invaluable to know that such resources are available to a small business like mine.” – Tyrone Duggins, CEO, ECOBiotix LLC

Request for Comments - Clean Tech

Your Input Is Requested - U.S. Clean Technologies Export Competitiveness Strategy

Recognizing the vital importance of clean technologies in tackling the global climate crisis and spurring U.S. innovation and creating well-paying jobs, the Department of Commerce (DOC), in partnership with the Office of the Special Presidential Envoy for Climate (SPEC), has made it a top priority to encourage growth and ensure U.S. innovation and competitiveness in clean technologies sectors. To support this, the International Trade Administration (ITA) is requesting public comments on clean technologies export competitiveness.

Your input will inform the Department’s effort to develop a “U.S. Clean Technologies Export Competitiveness Strategy”, which intends to identify key issues influencing the deployment of these goods and services, highlight potential opportunities and challenges, and identify possible actions for the DOC and federal government to take in order to foster U.S. export competitiveness in clean technologies sectors. If you are a stakeholder in the U.S. clean technologies industry, we would value your feedback on this important initiative and invite you to submit a public comment.

For background on the strategy, instructions on providing your comment, and a list of questions you may choose to respond to, please see the Federal Register Notice. To submit a comment, please visit www.regulations.gov Docket ITA-2021-0005. The public comment process is open until October 1.
