Featured Event: Water Trade Mission to India

India

Water/wastewater is one of the most promising sub-sectors for U.S. exporters in India's environmental technologies industry.  The Environmental Executive Mission to India will introduce U.S. delegates to the Indian water/wastewater markets in New Delhi, Ahmedabad, and Chennai; help participants learn about relevant policies, procedures and opportunities in India’s water industry; and take part in business-to-business matchmaking appointments with private sector organizations and government agencies.  In addition, the delegates will have an opportunity to visit/participate in the Water Expo 2020 (www.waterexpo.biz), a local trade show that takes place from February 13-15, 2020 in Chennai.

3 Part Webinar Series: Strategies to Bid and Win International Development Work with MCC

The Department of Commerce's International Trade Administration, in coordination with the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), is holding a 3-part webinar series bootcamp to provide strategies for U.S. companies to bid on international development projects. 

Part 1: MCC 101, where MCC operates and what sectors it works in, opportunities through contracts and grants management vs. program procurement, and how do you know if MCC is a good fit for your company, testimonial from a U.S. firm that has successfully worked with MCC.

Part 2: ‘The Goldilocks Moment’, the life cycle of a compact, best practices in program procurement, the dos and don’ts of bidding, evidence from past U.S. company successes

Part 3: Spotlight on Ghana: How MCC works with partner countries, examples of contracts, available commercial support in MCC countries, MIDA, establishing your firm for success

Doing Business with the United Nations

6th annual “Doing Business with the United Nations” Seminar in New York City on Thursday, July 18th, 2019 hosted by U.S. Commercial Service New York and the U.S. Mission to the United Nations. 

This seminar will offer an introduction to the UN's $18 billion procurement market and feature speakers from several of the largest procurers in the UN system including:

  • UN International Children’s Emergency Relief Fund (UNICEF)
  • World Food Program (WFP)
  • United Nations Procurement Division (UN/PD)
  • United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS)
  • United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)

Presentations and panels will address headquarter and international field tenders, followed by a networking lunch, case study and roundtables with UN representatives.  This event will be informative both for suppliers who may have already bid on UN tenders (but not yet had success) as well as for companies who need help getting started.

Opportunity: The Millennium Challenge Coordinating Unit, an implementing body of the MCC has created two concurrent works procurement projects. These two projects are being launched for works for a District Metering Area (DMA) Pilot Intervention to assist the water utility, the Guma Valley Water Company (GVWC), to deliver on its mandate of safe and adequate water supply services. the two projects are located in Aberdeen and Kingtom, and the objective is to rehabilitate sections of GVWC's distribution system and build water kiosks. 

The first procurement is to provide an Embedded Advisor to the Electricity and Water Regulatory Commission.  

The second opportunity is installation of DI (Ductile Iron), galvanized steel pipe, and HDPE (High Density Poly ETHYLENE) pipes and fittings, hydrant, bulk metering devices, pressure loggers and customer service lines within the DMAs.

Opportunity: Nayara Energy, a large private oil and gas company based in India is looking for companies that can provide products and services to convert waste plastics to fuel or any value added product, and technology on moisture condensation to drinking water (the company plans to set up plats at various locations). Nayara is operating India’s second largest single-site, state of the art refinery in Vadinar, Gujarat. Nayara's refinery can meet requirements across the hydrocarbon value chain from refining to retail and is geared up to the vision of delivering crude to chemicals. The company has over 500 fuel stations across India.
