Call for Applications: ETTAC Re-Chartering Membership

The U.S. Department of Commerce currently is recruiting members for the Secretary’s Environmental Technologies Trade Advisory Committee (ETTAC). The ETTAC is comprised of senior private sector representatives from the U.S. environmental industry and serves as an independent advisory body to both the U.S. Secretary of Commerce and all U.S. government agencies that touch the nexus between international commerce and environmental technology. In this capacity, the ETTAC advises the federal government on the development and administration of policies and programs to expand U.S. exports of environmental technologies, goods, and services. More information, including recommendations from past ETTAC charters, is available at www.export.gov/ettac.

News You Can Use: World Bank What a Waste 2.0

The World Bank report, What a Waste 2.0: A Global Snapshot of Solid Waste Management to 2050 was released on September 20. The report aggregates extensive solid waste data at the national and urban levels. It estimates and projects waste generation to 2030 and 2050. Beyond the core data metrics from waste generation to disposal, the report provides information on waste management costs, revenues, and tariffs; special wastes; regulations; public communication; administrative and operational models; and the informal sector. Description: With a combined GDP of $230 billion, Kazakhstan and Ukraine offer unprecedented market opportunities in energy, infrastructure, and agriculture sectors. With a growing middle class, Kazakhstan has developed into the leading market in Central Asia and is positioning itself as a transit route between Europe and China.
