International Market Research Seminar in Fargo
The US Commercial Service held an International Market Research Seminar in Fargo on September 27th. There were 27 participants who got a rapid fire review of over 50 websites, along with a panel discussion from experienced exporters who have effectively used market research in their export expansion efforts. Local Export Success - Haybuster Busting Bales and Boards Globally
After participating in several programs supported by the U.S. Commercial Service, Haybuster and Duratech Industries, based in Jamestown, ND, were able to secure sales in two new overseas markets. For more details, click here.

North Dakota Congressional Delegates Release Statements on USMCA
The North Dakota Congressional Delegation each released their own statements on the trade deal reached between the US, Mexico, and Canada. The agreement, meant to modernize NAFTA, addresses issues with US poultry, eggs, and dairy; and eliminates the downgrading of US wheat when entering Canada. In addition, the trade deal gives protection to intellectual/digital property. Local Farmers and Manufacturers React to New Trade Deal
Farmers and manufacturers from the Red River Valley reacted to the new USMCA trade deal. Some of the beneficiaries include dairy and wheat farmers. Intellectual Property Rights Seminar to be Held in Minneapolis
The US Commercial Service / Minneapolis will be hosting a seminar on intellectual property rights. The program will show attendees how to use STOPfakes.gov to identify and protect intellectual assets, mechanisms for obtaining IP protection in overseas markets, information on counterfeits, etc. This seminar is recommended for start-ups, small and medium-sized businesses, and inventors. US Trade Representatives Beginning Talks on Three New Trade Deals with EU, UK and Japan
US trade representatives (USTR) are starting the process to begin three separate trade deals with the European Union, Japan, and the United Kingdom. Congress was notified by letters sent on October 16th. the new trade deals are expected to prioritize auto production and domestic jobs, along with removing tariffs and other barriers. new agricultural markets are expected to be opened in the bilateral agreement with Japan. Discover Global Markets: Indo-Pacific Offered for Defense and Aerospace
The US Commercial Service is offering an opportunity to connect with US Commercial diplomats in the Indo-Pacific region. Discover Global Markets: Indo-Pacific seminar will discuss trade barriers, market access, geopolitical and economic issues, and provide networking opportunities both with other businesses and with US government trade contacts. EU and Vietnam Pushing for Approval of Trade Deal
The European Union and Vietnam are nearing completion of a trade agreement. The deal has to be approved by the European Parliament and all 28 EU members before being implemented. Removal of trade barriers, such as tariffs, sustainable production, and international standards on labor rights are all priorities. Click here for more information.

US to Withdraw from Postal Treaty
The US notified the Universal Postal Union that it is withdrawing from the treaty that gives Chinese companies discounted shipping rates for small parcel shipments to the US via the US Postal Service. The union can renegotiate rates during the year-long process to withdraw. If rates were to be renegotiated, the White House has indicated they would be willing to stay in the union.
