Brazil Passenger Rail Technologies
August 13, 2018, San Francisco, CA

The U.S. Trade and Development Agency is hosting the Brazil Passenger Rail Technologies Reverse Trade Mission. The event will bring senior representatives from Brazil’s passenger railroad industry to the United States for a ten day visit to familiarize them with U.S. technologies and equipment for railway video monitoring, signaling and energy efficiency. The delegation will be led by the National Association of Passenger Rail Operators (ANPTrilhos) and will include representatives from the National Telecommunications Agency (ANATEL) and a number of passenger railway operating companies. As part of the itinerary, USTDA will host a business briefing allowing the delegates to share information with

U.S. companies on their equipment needs, upcoming projects, and procurements related to the continuing development of Brazil’s passenger rail network. Automechanika Frankfurt
September 17-21, 2018, Frankfurt, Germany 

Automechanika Frankfurt is one of the most important trade fairs for the automotive aftermarket and has been organized by Messe Frankfurt since 1971. Approximately 133,000 trade visitors from 170 countries came to the last event to see the latest developments on offer from 4,843 exhibitors. The trade fair takes place every two years, alternating with the IAA, and will be celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2018. The 25th Automechanika Frankfurt will include new themes such as Classic Cars and REIFEN, which will be held simultaneously in the new Hall 12 as a co-located show for the first time. InnoTrans 2018

Presidential E Star Award for Export Service for SEMA

Presidential E Star Award for Export Service for SEMA The U.S. Department of Commerce’s Deputy Assistant Secretary for China & Mongolia, Alan Turley (second from left), publicly presented the President’s “E Star” Award for Export Service to the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) on July 17 at SEMA’s headquarters in Diamond Bar, California.  Accepting the award on behalf of SEMA is Linda Spencer, Senior Director of International & Government Affairs (far left), Wade Kawasaki, SEMA Chairman of the Board (second from right), and Bill Miller, SEMA’s Senior Vice President of Operations (far right).  SEMA formally accepted the award from Secretary of Commerce, Wilbur Ross, at a private ceremony last May in Washington, DC.  The July 17 presentation was held during SEMA’s Export Workshop to celebrate the ongoing partnership between SEMA and Commerce’s International Trade Administration, and the joint activities that have resulted in increased U.S. export sales to the Middle East, Australia and China.  Also during SEMA’s Export Workshop, Deputy Assistant Secretary Turley discussed the Chinese market with U.S. specialty equipment companies.  Additional speakers discussed the following topics during the workshop: protection of intellectual property, completion of a customs form, and compliance with Europe's New General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Elsewhere in the News: In collaboration with the Auto Care Association, the U.S. Commercial Service in Santiago, Chile hosted the Chile automotive industry aftermarket association (CAREP) and delivered a market briefing for U.S. exporters looking to grow sales in the region.  The event highlighted opportunities for U.S. suppliers and the August 2018 trade mission.
