Ambassador Edward T. McMullen, Jr. Led One of Europe’s Largest Business Delegations to the SelectUSA Investment Summit in June
 SelectUSA Switzerland recruited a robust business delegation to attend the Investment Summit in Washington, D.C. last month (June 20-22). Led by Ambassador Edward T. McMullen, Jr., the Swiss delegation represented a diverse group of businesses, ranging from start-ups and SMEs, to multi-nationals from a wide array of industries. While at the Summit, a number of Swiss delegates participated in high-level panel and breakout sessions. Swiss Ambassador to the United States Martin Dahinden hosted the Swiss delegation and a number of Governors at a networking dinner at the Swiss Embassy after the first day of the Investment Summit (pictured).

 Investment Summit Success Stories: Stadler Rail & Mercuria Energy Group Ltd.
Stadler Rail, a provider of rail vehicle construction solutions, broke ground on a new factory in Utah in late 2017. The company has made over $65 million in initial investments for the development and construction of the new state-of-the-art, 250,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility near the Salt Lake City International Airport. Stadler Rail currently employs 150+ workers, a number expected to grow to 1,000 within the next decade. Executives participated in the SelectUSA Investment Summit in 2016 and 2018.
Mercuria Energy Group Ltd., the third largest independent commodity trader in the world, focuses primarily on energy and has activities all along the commodity value chain. The company made a $300 million investment in 2017 in Mt. Airy, Louisiana with the Port of South Louisiana. The project directly supports more than 400 U.S. jobs and demonstrates the strength and depth of U.S.-Swiss economic ties. Company executives have attended a number of Investment Summits.
 Chargé d’Affaires Tara Feret Erath Greets Indiana Governor Eric J. Holcomb
On May 23, Governor of Indiana Eric J. Holcomb and his business development delegation were welcomed by Chargé d’Affaires Tara Feret Erath at the official residence in Bern. They met with current and prospective investors. Indiana is home to 38 Switzerland-based companies that employ over 11,300 Hoosiers, accounting for 6 percent of all FDI-supported jobs in Indiana.
  Ambassador McMullen Hosted U.S. Business Delegation & Swiss Business Executives
 Ambassador Edward T. McMullen, Jr. welcomed a U.S. business delegation and members of the Swiss business community to a SelectUSA event on April 10 at the official residence (pictured). Together, they discussed areas of interest pertaining to investment opportunities in the United States. Ambassador McMullen highlighted that there is no better time to invest in the United States than now due to the favorable business climate.
The same business delegation, including EDOs and a law firm, discussed business opportunities in the United States at two investment seminars in Zurich and Basel.

 Looking Ahead
SelectUSA Switzerland is organizing an event with local partners to explore FDI opportunities in the innovative blockchain technology sector. In addition, a governor’s visit and a SelectUSA Alumni event are planned for the fall.
