International Patient Day: Saving Lives Through American Innovation!
If you are a US medical device or health IT exporter,
consider participating in the 2018 International Patient Day (IPD) program.
During the 2018 IPD, your company can illustrate to foreign regulators,

around the globe showed that presentation partners gained valuable exposure to

makers. For a full list of event partnership benefits and requirements,

MiracleCorp Succeeds in the Netherlands
MiracleCorp, located in Moraine, Ohio, was established in
1988 and has approximately 100 employees. The company manufactures a wide
variety of pet products including health and beauty aids, grooming tools,
collars, leashes, leads and safety and agile flooring. MiracleCorp was
interested in finding new customers in the Netherlands and looked to the U.S.
Commercial Service for help.
After attending an International Trade
Administration-certified trade show in Bologna, the company met two Dutch
companies interested in purchasing their pet products. After the show, U.S.
Commercial Service staff in Cincinnati and The Hague assisted MiracleCorp with
pet industry regulations, required medicinal marketing authorizations and
documentary requirements. U.S. Commercial Service staff at The Hague also
reached out to the potential Dutch buyers to help facilitate their partnerships
with MiracleCorp.
As a direct result of U.S. Commercial Service efforts in
Cincinnati and The Hague, MiracleCorp recently reported sales of $25,000 to
their new Dutch customers.

The healthcare system in Albania is mostly public, although private healthcare has become increasingly popular. Pharmaceutical and dental services are almost entirely private. The number of specialized private diagnostic clinics, labs, and hospitals has been growing at a fast pace, especially in major urban areas. Four major private hospitals and some smaller ones, as well as dozens of private multi-disciplinary diagnostic clinics and labs offer a full range of medical services.
In 2013, the Albanian government pledged to implement universal healthcare coverage and has since undertaken a series of steps toward implementation of this model.
Albania imports all of its medical equipment and devices, and around 91% of drugs. Domestic drug manufacturing counts for almost 9% of market share.
All major pharmaceutical and medical equipment and device manufacturers are present in the market, mostly through distributors.
The ongoing modernization of the private and public healthcare sectors provides opportunities for U.S. exporters. As the sector modernizes, Albanians increasingly are demanding modern, western medical devices and treatments. Wealthy Albanians that previously traveled overseas for medical treatment increasingly opt to stay in Albania and seek services at private hospitals and clinics. Medical tourism, especially in dentistry, is small but growing.
