Market Spotlight: Mexico's Water and Environmental Sectors

Banner

Over the next few years, water, wastewater management, and environmental technologies companies will have the opportunity to expand in the Mexican market. The Mexican National Water Commission’s (CONAGUA) 2018 budget is projected to be U.S. $8.0 billion; it will seek to improve infrastructure such as dams, aqueducts, and desalination plants. $200 million of this budget will be dedicated to upgrading existing municipalities.

Mexico's main challenges consist of over-exploitation, inadequate infrastructure, and contamination of water resources, but part of the plan looks to address these issues. Project focus will be both on drinking water and municipal projects, providing excellent entry opportunities for firms with expertise in these areas. The leading sub-sectors for U.S. companies include increased recycling, potable drinking water technologies, wastewater management, solid waste management, soil remediation, recycling and air monitoring. The quality, post-sale services, and guarantees offered by U.S. companies give U.S. technologies and solutions a competitive edge in the market.

To learn more about opportunities in this sector, please review our latest Market Intelligence Report on Mexico's Water and Environmental Technologies Sector.  We are also excited to invite you to join our offices in Mexico, CONAGUA, and the American Water Works Association (AWWA) for a FREE webinar on Opportunities in Mexico's Water Sector, February 27, 2018 at 12:00pm Eastern.  Registration is required by visiting our website HERE

During the webinar, you will also hear about an upcoming Mexico Water Trade  Mission organized by the AWWA and supported by the U.S. Commercial Service, taking place September 17-21, 2018 and including matchmaking opportunities in both Mexico City and Monterrey.  For more information, you can contact the AWWA's Jane Johnson at jjohnson@awwa.org or by phone at (303) 913-0062.
