Canada is among the world’s top
countries relying mostly on clean hydro energy.
The primary sources of electricity generated are 63.5% hydro, 19% gas
and combustion, 16% nuclear, 1.5% renewables (wind, solar, etc.). Coal-based power generation was eliminated in
Ontario and Quebec, and is being replaced with gas and renewable energy
(wind/solar) in other provinces. The
regulatory environment is centered at the provincial level, which has full
authority over the local electrical system regulations, policies, and
enforcement.
Best prospects for U.S. energy
exports to Canada are considered to be Power
Generation and Renewables. Canada is one of the world leaders
in the production and use of energy from renewable sources: hydro, wind, solar,
biomass with significant developments in geothermal and marine energy, –
accounting for 65% of Canada’s total electricity generation. The electrical
energy sector in Canada has a total installed generating capacity of 134 GW and
is projected to reach 170 GW in 2035. To learn more about power generation and

The Consolidated Screening List (CSL) is a list of
parties for which the United States Government maintains restrictions on
certain exports, reexports or transfers of items. The Department of
Commerce provides tools that may be used as an aid to industry in conducting
electronic screens of potential parties to regulated transactions. Check out
