Patient Day Global Forum Series

Patient Day: Saving Lives Through American Innovation

In March 2017, 19 U.S. Commercial Service offices around the globe will host Patient Day programs, where foreign government regulators and high level officials will see the personal impact U.S. medical technology has on their local population. Patient Day seeks to build the human connection through sharing personal stories of how U.S. technology is improving lives in their country.

Program:  Each country’s program will feature presentations from local doctors and patients who will talk about how US technologies have improved their lives. A networking reception where regulators can speak with US healthcare technology firms will follow these presentations.
 
Marketing Partnership Opportunity:  Patient Day will provide marketing partners with valuable exposure to and engagement with foreign government regulators and
other critical decision makers. Marketing partners will be responsible for:

  • Locating a doctor or patient in the target country who uses your company’s technology and would be willing to speak at the International Patient Day. 
  •  Attending the local Patient Day to discuss new technology or answer questions.

Direct Line - Opportunities in China’s Senior Care Market

The U.S. Consul General in Shanghai will be joined by his Economic team and local subject matter experts to discuss China’s growing demand for senior care products and services. By 2050, China is expected to have nearly 500 million people over 60, exceeding the population of the United States. The aging population has brought greater demand for senior care services, Chinese people will spend over $1.54 trillion from 2016 to 2020 on senior care, increasing 17 percent per year.

Trade Fair - First-time Medical Tourism Pavilion at ITB show in Berlin in 2017

U.S. medical service providers can now exhibit their products in a first-time Medical Tourism Pavilion at the world’s largest travel and tourism show ITB in Berlin (March 8-12, 2017). Companies will also have the opportunity to showcase their services to the travel trade audience in the show’s Medical Tourism Presentation Corner. As in previous years, the U.S. Commercial Service Global Tourism Team will again support the 200+ U.S. exhibitors at ITB via a myriad of activities, including market counseling and Social Media exposure, as well as targeted promotional outreach and matchmaking via the International Promotion Program.

Trade Fair - 37th International Dental Show

IDS in Cologne is the world’s leading trade show and largest biennial international fair for dental equipment.  In 2015, the event hosted a new record of 2,201 exhibitors from 56 countries. Approximately 138,500 trade visitors from 151 countries attended the show, up 11% over the 2013 event. The United States was the second largest foreign contingent, only topped by Italy. 

In 2017, we expect to surpass the 2015 results, with some +200 U.S. exhibitors in three North American Pavilions (Halls 4.2; 2.2; 5.1) recruited by Cologne Trade Shows (CTS) in Chicago and the Dental Trade Alliance (DTA).

Trade Fair - China International Medical Equipment Fair (CMEF) and the CORPORATE EXECUTIVE OFFICE (CEO) PROGRAM

The CEO is a specific area on the trade show floor located within the USA Pavilion that is subdivided into meeting space (with tables and chairs, one set per each U.S. company), business center (internet access, small desk, etc.) and small lounge/seating area. The program is an alternative to the traditional trade show booth and offers a unique, cost-effective way for companies to participate in the largest medical equipment exhibition in Asia. Country Spotlight: Israel

US Israel Flag

Israel’s healthcare system is well-advanced by international standards. Israeli hospitals are modern and the medical community is highly professional and well informed with the latest technologies. In recent years, Israel’s healthcare policy makers have been focusing on preventive medicine and early detection of cancer and other systemic and degenerative diseases. Israel has an advanced public healthcare system as well as a well-developed private care market. Medical Tourism is also an important segment of this market. The public healthcare system provides universal health coverage via four health management organizations and a network of community clinics and medical centers. Israel is considered a lucrative market for healthcare technologies that help reduce cost and prevent disease. Israeli importers and distributors of medical and pharmaceutical products reported over $2 billion in sales, with the U.S. share of 30% at $600 million.
