NAMPO 2016 Success
NAMPO Harvest Day 2016 was held in Bothaville, South Africa May 17-20. NAMPO Harvest Day is the largest agricultural exhibition on the African continent, attracting 600 exhibitors and over 70,000 attendees from 4 continents. The CS North Dakota office and the CS Agribusiness Team have provided the leadership for the USA Pavilion's growing presence at Nampo every year since 2010. This year, Zambia and Mozambique were additional countries of focus for the program. The U.S. Commercial Service has recently added several new offices in Africa. Several sales and successes have already been recorded from this year's show; and over 20 US companies have recorded success through the USA Pavilion at Nampo since 2010, and many of these firms are from North Dakota.

Shipments to the European Union grew 23 percent from January to April this year compared with the same period in 2015. Exports to Ukraine recovered by a remarkable 241 percent, coming back from near collapse in 2012-15. The Russian market also recovered strongly, although not as rapidly as Ukraine.
