Welcome to the United States, SATA USA!

Congratulations to SATA USA and the Brownsville Economic Development Council. SATA Group, a manufacturer headquartered in Valperga, Italy for more than a century, announced today that it will invest $114 million to build a machining operation in Brownsville, TX, that will create 300 jobs over a 10-year period.

Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Global Markets, Arun Kumar, participated in the announcement. Here’s an excerpt from his blog post:

“This is a great time to invest in American manufacturing. Yesterday, A.T. Kearney announced that the United States ranked first for the fourth year running in its annual Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Confidence Index. Last week, President Barack Obama and Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker led the largest ever U.S. delegation to Hannover Messe, the world’s leading industrial manufacturing trade fair. As of April 1, the manufacturing sector has added 838,000 jobs during the past 73 months. And today, SATA USA has announced that it will create more jobs in Brownsville, Texas to add to that number.”

Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker issued a congratulatory statement:

“Congratulations to the city of Brownsville and to SATA USA. SATA USA’s decision to establish their new facility in Texas underscores what AT Kearney’s 2016 ranking has already revealed: there has never been a better time to invest in America. At the Department of Commerce, we are proud to lead the SelectUSA program, a coordinated federal effort to attract foreign direct investment. This deal shows the value of cooperation across the local, state, and federal levels to bring new job-creating investments to our communities.”
